Fantastic blog, and on top of all those offensive numbers he is playing better defense too. He should win the Calder. and if he was somewhere with a huge medial presence like New York, Chicago, or the home of the Blue Jays he would be.

He's having a great season no doubt. Seth jones as a partner helps instead of say Andrew Macdonald for provorov's

The final Calder tally will probably leave a sour taste in the mind of many since they're so many deserving candidates. (If Sullivan goes ham for the rest of the season, don't forget about Matt Murray )

I think what Zach Werenski is doing as a rookie is ridiculous and I'm not sure it's getting the attention that it should. Defensemen in this league are so damn valuable.

Dude was an absolute stud at UM his Freshman year. I watched a lot of that team to keep an eye on Larkin. I wanted DET to trade whatever it took to move up to get him.

Werenski is having a great rookie year, no doubt. Although as a Leafs fan I will be happy if one of our own rookies wins the Calder, even with my homer goggles on I can admit Werenski looks like a deserving candidate to win.

If he can keep up what he's been doing so far, for the rest of the year, he has a legit shot at the Calder IMO.

As someone else mentioned, Murray is making a case as well.
A lot of people will likely be disappointed this year, since there are so many deserving candidates and only one can win.

this calder race is so ridiculous (in a good way). if I had a vote and we were voting today I'd go:

werenski
Matthews
laine

it would be in that order because of the difficulty of the position that each guy is playing. I think that each is dominating equally at their position but defence is much harder than forward, and center is much harder than wing.......hence my vote.

sadly, with the way the calder race is being hyped by the media (who are the ones who vote) I'd be surprised if werenski is even a finalist.

I'd say that there is a good chance that Mathews and Laine split the vote and Werenski wins the calder (much like how Gaudreau and Stone split the vote when Ekblad won).

Werenski
Mathews
Laine
Tkachuk (might be a little biased but the guy has been so big for us this year)
Marner
Murray
Nylander

Is how I think the voting will end up shaking out...

i agree with this list by and large, though I think Matthews and Laine end up tied for second...
